Twitter Spreads to Afghanistan Through SMS
KABUL - Afghanistan's telecom operators began to open up access to Twitter. Although still rely on SMS, access is guaranteed to be excellent.

Roshan, a telecommunications operator in Afghanistan, which could introduce a mobile Twitter posting tweets via SMS through mobile phones. This service is for customers in Roshan, especially young children.

According to Roshan, as quoted by Cellular News, Friday (1/7/2011), demographic conditions in Afghanistan will make this service becomes popular. Even noted, young people in Afghanistan are active users of social networking, with the number reaching 60 percent of the total population in the country.

"With this new service, Roshan is not only able to become hub for family and close friends but also pave the way for Afghans to join the social networking community in the world," said COO Roshan, Altaf Ladak.

According to Ladak, communications and information ministry of Afghanistan realize that most active internet users in the country visiting social networking sites. With this service they will be easier to socialize in cyberspace.

Twitter mobile itself is not the first social networking service provided to its Roshan customers. The company is the pioneer service operator that offers access to Facebook, Hi5, as well as the Blackberry service.
